Über Schloss Schwansbell mit seiner lebhaften Geschichte und dem 1996 im Rahmen der Landesgartenschau angelegten Seepark Lünen, geht es vorbei an der Halde, dem Verwaltungsgebäude, dem Casino – seit 1987 Bürgerhaus – sowie der Zechensiedlung „Horstmar“, der schon 1929 stillgelegten Zeche Preußen II. Sehen die Wasserburg Haus Wenge, den Wasserturm Lanstroper Ei mit stählernem K-Fachwerk – seit 1981 Baudenkmal der Stadt Dortmund – und schließlich den Luftschacht Rote Fuhr, ein Wetterschacht in den Jahren 1925 bis 1927 der Schachtanlage Preußen II.

Gelsenkirchen's history starts in 1150, but it remained a tiny village until the 19th century when the Industrial Revolution led to the growth of the entire area. In the early 20th century, Gelsenkirchen was called the "city of a thousand fires" for the flames of mine gasses flaring at night time. In view of the tower of the Lamberti Church we encounter the famous iron cages. Hear the story of the Anabaptists who met a haunted end in these cages in the 16th century. In addition, you will learn about the eventful negotiations on the Peace of Westphalia at the town hall, about the disputes between the Munster merchants and the powerful prince-bishops on the Prinzipalmarkt and, opposite the Church of Our Lady, why the Anabaptists cut down their tower to station cannons on it.
