Hummingbird enthusiasts will be in awe at this hidden gem in the Maracas Valley, located in the Northern Range of Trinidad. Yerette, Home of the Hummingbird, is a sanctuary for the hundreds and sometimes thousands of hummingbirds that visit during the year. Visitors will be up close and personal with up to fourteen out of the eighteen species of hummingbirds that are found in Trinidad and Tobago. Experience with a difference, a natural mud bath at L’eau Michel Mud Volcano in south Trinidad. Unlike other mud volcanoes in Trinidad, the mud at L’eau Michel is semi solid and liquid enough for visitors to bathe in. The mud flows out through active vents. • Rio Seco Waterfall is among Trinidad’s most stunning waterfalls. While, by far not the tallest, Waterfall this place mostly for its wide deep basin filled with emerald green water. The waterfall’s face, which slopes backward, makes for an easy climb to its top, and its deep plunge pool encourages visitors to jump and dive in.

The endangered leatherback turtles come ashore from March 15th. to July 25th. of each year for their nesting season. These giant leatherback turtles visit these shores as many as 3 or 4 times during the season to lay between 480 and 1,000 eggs. As you may know, they can be up to seven feet in length. Many of the turtles can weigh more than 2,000 pounds. These magnificent creatures travel for thousands of miles in the water to come here to lay there egg.

Rio Seco Waterfall Adventure
The trail to the Rio Seco waterfall begins on the Toco Main Road where the beautiful Salybia River flows lazily into the ocean. The trail winds through the primary rainforest of Matura that most times over looks the bubbling river. Through the tropical rainforest, dominating species such as the Mora are seen at different stages of life.
The trail would take approximately 40-50 minutes hike, with a rating of 4/10. (Moderate Difficulty)
